Captain Perez joined NJ Transit Police in 2003. He began his career assigned to the Patrol Division in Transit Districts 2, 3, and 4 before being assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit in 2010. In 2012, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and worked Transit District 2 and he supervised Central Communications. In 2017, he was promoted to Lieutenant and served as a Patrol Tour Commander in Districts 2, 3, and 4. He was promoted to Captain in 2021 and served as the afternoon watch commander for the Patrol Division. He currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Transit Districts 3 & 4.

Director Farkas began her career working in private law firms beginning in 1989. After a twenty-year career in law, Janice left the private sector and transitioned to public service with the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP). In 2011, she was appointed to the Planning and Project Management Bureau, where she assisted in emergency management planning including co-authoring the State’s Fatality Management Emergency Operations Plan, and Governor’s All-Hazard Playbook.
