Captain Of Districts 3&4

Captain Luis Perez is the Commanding Officer of Transit Districts 3 and 4. He directs and controls the daily police operations in Hudson, Bergen, and Passaic Counties. Captain Perez's Transit Districts include Hoboken Terminal, Secaucus Junction, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, and Meadowlands Train Station.

Captain Perez joined NJ Transit Police in 2003. He began his career assigned to the Patrol Division in Transit Districts 2, 3, and 4 before being assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit in 2010. In 2012, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and worked Transit District 2 and he supervised Central Communications. In 2017, he was promoted to Lieutenant and served as a Patrol Tour Commander in Districts 2, 3, and 4. He was promoted to Captain in 2021 and served as the afternoon watch commander for the Patrol Division. He currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Transit Districts 3 & 4.
 
Captain Perez is the recipient of a Police Commendation Award, Life Saving Award, and a Unit Citation Award. He holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Bergen Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness from Thomas Edison State University. He is a graduate of the 2003-03 Essex County Police Academy class.
