A:     We encourage you to call NJ TRANSIT Police Department's Central Communications Center at (973) 378-6565. You can also call our Text Tip line at 1-888-TIPS-NJT or text your emergency message to NJTPD (65873)
 
Q:     How should I report a unattended package or suitcase?
A:     We encourage our customers to report any kind of suspicious incident by calling 1-888-TIPS-NJT (1-888-847-7658), the NJ TRANSIT Police Emergency line. Customers can also text an emergency message to NJTPD (65873).
 
Q:     How do I file a police report?
A:     You may file a police report at the appropriate Transit District. Click here to find out your Transit District. You may also call NJ TRANSIT Police Department's Central Communications at (973) 378-6565 for more information.
 
Q:     How do I obtain a copy of a police report?
A:     You must go to the Records Department at One Penn Plaza East, Newark, New Jersey 07105 in person.
 
Q:     How do I file a complaint?
A:     You may file a complaint in person at any police facility at any time or contact the Office of Professional Standards at (973) 491-8942. Additionally, you may write or email to the Commanding Officer of the Office of Professional Standards Office at:

Q:     Whom do I contact if my vehicle has been towed?
A:     You should contact the NJ TRANSIT Police Department's Records Department at (973) 491-8438.
 
Q:     How do I recover personal property?
A:     You can call the property/evidence unit either at (973) 378-6352 for property retrieved in Transit Districts 2, 3 and 4 or (973) 508-0143 for property recovered in Transit Districts 5, 6 and 7. All property is kept in a vault until your case is over and a disposition can be obtained.
 
Q:     If my property is seized and an application for forfeiture placed, how can I get my property back?
A:     All paperwork and money are sent to the appropriate County Prosecutor's Office, Forfeiture Unit. You may contact that unit for information on the process.
