Captain of the Special Operations Division
Captain Dustin M. Antonio is the Commanding Officer of the Special Operations Division for the NJ Transit Police Department. As part of his duties, he directs and controls the daily police operations on the Emergency Service Unit and the K-9 Unit. The Special Operations Division maintains a counter-terrorism posture and assists with threat mitigation and deterrence, explosive detection, HAZMAT response, firefighting, and specialty rescue capabilities to ensure that the NJ Transit system is prepared for all potential obstacles.
Captain Antonio joined the NJ Transit Police Department in 2011. He began his law enforcement career as a Newark Police Officer working in the 4th Precinct (West Ward) in the Patrol Division. He later transitioned to the NJ Transit Police Department where he began his NJTPD career assigned to the Patrol Division in Transit Districts 2,3 and 4 before being assigned to the Special Operations Division- CTU Unit in 2013. In 2017, he was promoted to Police Sergeant and worked in various assignments in Districts 2, 3, 4, Central Communications and the Emergency Service Unit. In 2021, he was promoted to Lieutenant of Police and was appointed as the Executive Officer of the Special Operations Division. In 2025, he was promoted to Captain of Police and became the Commanding Officer of the Special Operations Division where he currently serves with pride.
Captain Antonio is the recipient of three (3) Unit Citations, a Life Saving Award, and was named Newark Police Department’s- Police Officer of the Month in July 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Kean University and is a graduate of the Newark Police Academy - Class 115.
