Patrol Captain

Captain Celaya is the Patrol Captain.

Captain Celaya joined the NJ Transit Police in 2007. He began his career assigned to the Patrol Division, working in Transit Districts 5 and 2 before being assigned to Special Operations in 2010. In 2016, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and worked in Transit District 5 and Special Operations. In 2021, Captain Celaya was promoted to Lieutenant and worked in Transit Districts 5, 6 and 7.  In 2022, he was appointed to the Executive Officer position of Districts 5, 6, and 7.  He was promoted to Captain in 2024 and currently serves as the afternoon watch commander for the Patrol Division.

Captain Celaya is the recipient of a Police Accommodation Award and a Unit Citation Award. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Seton Hall University. He is a graduate of the Essex County College Police Academy, Class 07-02, and is also a graduate from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police’s Command and Leadership Academy.
