Captain of Districts 5,6,7

Captain Daniel Celaya is the Commanding Officer of Transit District 5, 6 and 7 in Trenton, Camden and Atlantic City for the NJ TRANSIT Police Department. He directs and controls all daily Police Operations for these locations.

Captain Celaya joined the NJ Transit Police in 2007. He began his career assigned to the Patrol Division, working in Transit Districts 5 and 2 before being assigned to Special Operations in 2010. In 2016, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and worked in Transit District 5 and Special Operations. In 2021, Captain Celaya was promoted to Lieutenant and worked in Transit Districts 5, 6 and 7.  In 2022, he was appointed to the Executive Officer position of Districts 5, 6, and 7.  He was promoted to Captain in 2024. In 2025, Captain Celaya was assigned as the Commanding Officer of Transit District 5, 6, and 7 in Trenton, Camden, and Atlantic City.
 

Captain Celaya is the recipient of a Police Accommodation Award and a Unit Citation Award. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Seton Hall University. He is a graduate of the Essex County College Police Academy, Class 07-02, and is also a graduate from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police’s Command and Leadership Academy.
