Inspector of District 2
Inspector Nicholas Capriglione is the Commanding Officer of Transit District 2 for the NJ TRANSIT Police Department. He directs and controls all daily Police Operations for Newark Penn Station.
Inspector Capriglione started his career with NJ TRANSIT Police in January of 2000. He was initially assigned to the Patrol Division and worked in Transit Districts 2, 3, and 4.
In 2003, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and worked in Transit District 2. Inspector Capriglione was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2011. In 2014, as Captain, he was appointed to the Executive Officer position in Administration. He was also appointed in charge of districts 5, 6, and 7 in Trenton, Camden, and Atlantic City. In 2021, he was promoted to Police Inspector. Inspector Nicholas Capriglione is the Commanding Officer of Transit District 2 for the NJ TRANSIT Police Department. He directs and controls all daily Police Operations for Newark Penn Station and oversees the NJTPD Social Service Outreach unit.
Inspector Capriglione is a graduate of the Somerset County Police Academy and the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police's Command and Leadership program. He holds a bachelor's degree and a master’s degree in administrative science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. The Inspector is the recipient of one exceptional duty medal, two excellent police service awards, three honor awards, one distinguished service award, two Meritorious duty awards, one life-saving award, one distinguished service award, and two-unit commendations.
