Inspector of District 2

Inspector Andrew Keelan is the Commanding Officer of Transit District 2. He directs and controls daily Police Operations at Penn Station Newark, The Newark City Subway Light Rail, Bus and Rail Stations in Essex, Morris, Warren, Hunterdon Somerset Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Inspector Keelan started his career with the NJ TRANSIT Police Department working Patrol, Communications and the Mobile Enforcement Unit. In 1997, He was promoted to Sergeant where he worked Patrol and Communications. Inspector Keelan also served as a Terminal Agency Coordinator, In 2001 Inspector Keelan Started the NJ Transit K-9 Unit, where he served as the K-9 Units first Supervisor and Handler with K-9 Officer "Adam". Inspector Keelan advanced to Lieutenant in 2002 and held various leadership positions and commands including Canine Supervisor, Officer-In-Charge of Records and Communications and Tour Commander. Inspector Keelan was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2011 where he served as Patrol Captain, Commanding Officer of Districts 5, 6 & 7 and from 2013 until 2017 the Commanding Officer of Districts 3 & 4. He was promoted to Inspector in 2017 and is the Commanding Officer of District 2

Inspector Keelan is a graduate of the NJ State Association of Chiefs of Police's Command & Leadership program. Inspector Keelan attended RETS Electronic School and received a certificate for Electronics Engineering Technician. He is also a veteran of the United States Army, Military Police.
